Phoenix

We are watching neon Indian. They ate the opener for Phoenix. I don’t really care for it. It’s bad 80′s music. It’s not that good. I can see why Phoenix would want these guys to open. They ate bad and will make Phoenix sound awesome. More to come…these guys are terrible. I don’t losing some of my hearing for something that sounds awesome. But I have lost my hearing for no reason. Why dd I forget my earplugs?!

The main show is so much better. Phoenix is incredibly tight and play with a lot of energy. The drummer is dominant. Super glad that we showed up for this

Edit. Most epic ending to a show ever! Nuff said!!!

Macca in san fran

Today we went to the de young gallery and walked down haight street. It was interesting similar to commercial drive. But by far the high light if this trip so far was going to see Paul McCartney play San Fran at the AT&T park. Apparently he has not play San Fran in about 40 years. I think the last time he played he was the very last beatles live show.

He was amazing. He played for about 3 hours. Great show. Can’t really say more than that. Macca was on. Great songs. Great scene. It was pretty beautiful seeing him play in front of the San Francisco bay.

I will try to find the set list soon. Highlights were day in the life, live and let die and 1985.

olp the vogue may 14

well it took me a few weeks to finally write about this show. i have to say that i wasnt really expecting much other than to rock to a few of clumsy songs that i knew and a few others. well to my surprise, it was a rockin good time and it was way better than i could of expected.

it was also my first time seeing a show at the vogue. you could tell it was old and a little run down, but it did have some old world charm. its a great place to see a show, especially when the act tells you to stand up and move closer to the stage.

i first saw olp when i was 15 years old at the original commodore and i would have to say that this time it was a close second.

Part one of the show was the tracklist of ‘Clumsy’:

  • Superman’s Dead
  • Automatic Flowers
  • Carnival
  • Big Dumb Rocket
  • 4am
  • Shaking
  • Clumsy
  • Hello Oskar
  • Let You Down
  • The Story of 100 Aisles
  • Car Crash

Part two

  • Monkey Brains
  • Innocent
  • Life
  • Is Anybody Home
  • One Man Army
  • Paper Moon
  • Angels/Losing/Sleep
  • Somewhere Out There
  • All You Did Was Save My Life

Encore:

  • Naveed/Kids (MGMT cover) (interlude)
  • Dreamland
  • Starseed

enjoy a song below!

Pearl Jam rocked my World

update: video of ed ved dissing seattles crowd

okay…i normally will try to write about arsenal and canuck games…

arsenal did win 1-0 over fulham yesterday. i am glad to see them squeek one out against a fellow london side. champ league this week…lets hope to keep the win streak alive

as for the canucks, their season starts on thursday v calgary. lets kick some cowboy ass!!!

now for the real post.

PEARL JAM

they played gm place on friday night and i have to say that it was one of my fav pj shows that i have been to and i have seen a few or least i thought. we managed to get 3rd row tickets…which were pretty awesome. the guy beside us told he had seen 120 shows and his 17 year old daughter had seen 27. i lost my stuff. thats is dedication and a real love for the band. i was glad to be sitting near the hardcore fans and not the casual ones. they would understand what i felt later on when they played the seldom heard breath or the never played no way. they are songs deep in the pj catalouge.they even managed to bring out ben harper for a song.

it was a great show, great crowd and great night. it was so good that ed ved even took time to diss the seattle crowd, talk hockey, about the commodore and even dedicated a song to the late terry fox. he mentioned that the band was going to donate 20k to the terry fox foundation from the show tickets. that got a huge response. the crowd was so good that they got rid of the mellower songs and replaced them with rockers because thats what the crowd was doing.

good on you vancouver for showing how fun we really are and good on pj for recognizing it!

Show Me Your…MADGE!

Well…100 posts…I honestly didnt think that I would make it this long! Who woulda thunk it!

Anyways, my story that I wanted to tell. On any normal day, I am awaken to Jack FM coming onto the radio. Most days I hope that Livin On A Pair will wake me up. This time, I was woken up to the news that there was more Madonna tickets on sale for the show. I sprung outta bed and ran to computer and bought me some tix!

So the show…Madonna didnt get on stage until 915 but she did manage to entertain 55,000 people with a two hour set. She played a lot of her fav songs and remixed or redid a lot of them too! She definetly puts on an awesome show. I would say that it was worth it for sure…I have some pics that I need to get off my phone and then I will post them!

One last thing…I saw some of the dirtiest looking 40 year olds ever. I think they reliving 1986 but without their 1986 charm!

Stone Temple Pilots and my 1996 flashback

Well to mark the end of summer, a friend of mine and I went to see Stone Temple Pilots last night at GM Place. It was remarkable how much these guys look exactly like they did in 1996. If you took a picture and from then and took one now and put them side by side, you wouldnt know the difference.
I was worried that the band would sound like shit or that they would show up super late. But neither happened so that was really good. It was a rockin show and the people there showed up to show their love for the band.

Overall I liked the show and I heard all the songs I wanted to see. It was obvious that Scott Weiland loves being a rock star. His movement around the stage was straight outta the Mick Jagger playbook. And the bassist ____ Deleo, was staight outta the how to look like a rock star on an arena stage playbook. But with that said, I really enjoyed the show and was glad to at least see them once in my life!

On another note….school starts on the other side of this very weekend…wow…the summer went fast…i suppose that the weather was telling us its time to go back though!

‘Rain down on me’ – Radiohead in Raincouver

Radiohead played tonight at T-Bird Stadium. This would be the 3rd or 4th time that I have managed to see them play. I have never been disapointed with the show that they put on!

I think that it was the first time that I had ever gone to a sold out show their. It was a very rainy night but that didnt stop the awesomeness. It was a good time and they played loads of songs from pretty much their whole catalog. The light show was great,

the banter was fun and the crowd was pretty into it. the only thing is i wish that i was able to get a radiohead water bottle. sold out quickly! all in all, i am really glad that i made it out to the show, even if we missed the first song trying to get their! If you ever get the chance go!
