pj snl

pearl jam was on saturday night live. it was pretty much the only reason i decided to watch the show. also the digital shorts. they are pretty good, especially the lonely island songs. i thought that i would share the videos of pj’s performances for you.

has anyone checked out any paraolympic events. i watched some sledge hockey yesterday for a bit on tv. its pretty nasty out there. saw some mean elbows!

simply epic

in what may go down as one of the most epic shows ever…pearl jam played la. it was the 3rd of a 4 night stand, with a break for austin city limits (which will show on tv in late nov) and out came chris cornell to sing on hunger strike and jerry cantrell to play the solo on alive!

frick amazin…no other way to say it…here are some video’s of the events…

all i can say is that i really wish i was there!

alive with jerry cantrell

hunger strike with chris cornell

Pearl Jam rocked my World

update: video of ed ved dissing seattles crowd

okay…i normally will try to write about arsenal and canuck games…

arsenal did win 1-0 over fulham yesterday. i am glad to see them squeek one out against a fellow london side. champ league this week…lets hope to keep the win streak alive

as for the canucks, their season starts on thursday v calgary. lets kick some cowboy ass!!!

now for the real post.

PEARL JAM

they played gm place on friday night and i have to say that it was one of my fav pj shows that i have been to and i have seen a few or least i thought. we managed to get 3rd row tickets…which were pretty awesome. the guy beside us told he had seen 120 shows and his 17 year old daughter had seen 27. i lost my stuff. thats is dedication and a real love for the band. i was glad to be sitting near the hardcore fans and not the casual ones. they would understand what i felt later on when they played the seldom heard breath or the never played no way. they are songs deep in the pj catalouge.they even managed to bring out ben harper for a song.

it was a great show, great crowd and great night. it was so good that ed ved even took time to diss the seattle crowd, talk hockey, about the commodore and even dedicated a song to the late terry fox. he mentioned that the band was going to donate 20k to the terry fox foundation from the show tickets. that got a huge response. the crowd was so good that they got rid of the mellower songs and replaced them with rockers because thats what the crowd was doing.

good on you vancouver for showing how fun we really are and good on pj for recognizing it!

bumbershoot

seeing as this is the last day before the beginning of another new school year, i thought that i would do one last summer time post. my hope is that i will continue to do post on the things that i found fun…time will tell.

so more on the title of the post. we went down to see bumbershoot in seattle. we were lucky to get ahold of some vip passes to the festival. it was nice to having to wait in line and being able to go to the free fooded areas!.

if you dont know what that is, it is a giant music, culture and arts festival located at seattle center (home of the space needle). they have all kinds of stuff going on. it is what the pne should become. it had a rock concery poster show featuring pearl jam poster artist brad klausen (in the pic below), a half pipe, visual arts show, and a number of stages featuring all kinds of musicans.

the one show that we went to and stayed the whole time was low vs diamond. the singer is from the seattle area, so it was cool to see him doing a home town return show. they were really good and full of energy. i will see them the next time they come through here. sample a track below.

Low vs Diamond - Heart Attack

a mish mash of stuff

ok…instead of doing seperate post for each of the different topics, i think that i am going to do one gigantic one…

1st off…pitchfork has released a top 500 tracks of the 2000′s collection

can you believe that the 2000′s are almost over…just think about the y2k scare…it wasnt that long ago!

2nd…pearl jam has a new single, the fixer, and now they have a video out for it. it was shot by cameron crowe. not a bad little vid, just like seeing them live!

3rd…well hockey is upon us again. the mens olympic team camp is in calgary this week. they get started today and i am sure that there is going to be a lot of media coverage…

and apparently the canucks are close to signing Mathieu Schnider is close to signing with the canucks on a one year deal…interesting…very interesting

pj in vancity

my fav band of all time is coming back to town. they are going to be rockin out at gm place friday september 25. its gonna be the first time that they have been back here since 2005. i am super pumped to be going to the show. its always a good time. i hope that am able to get some good seats! i am always super stoked about going to see pj play. i love the fact that there will the well known, not so well known and cover songs in their set. i also appreciate that they seems to be giving about 200% while they play. there is nothing like being super close to the band or any band that matter while they are in their element. i suppose its like watching me teach!

Mike and Jeff Rockin

the reason they are going on (like they need a reason) is because they have a new album coming out around the same time. its called BACKSPACER. i have heard the first track, THE FIXER, and its a bangin pop song. weird, pj and pop…anyways, it should be a good album if that first track is anything to go by.

here is a demo of a song that will be on the new album too

Pearl Jam – Speed of Sound

and here is the cover artBackspacer Cover
