Just so you know…two of the most critically acclaimed artist are coming to town for the summer.
Feist is coming to town, Deer Lake Park later in the summer, Aug 5th I believe!
I saw play last year at the Orpheum last year. She is an amazing performer and has one the most lovely voices you have ever heard live. I can only imagine what a warm summers night would be like listening to her play her stuff!
Here is a little track that you just may like! It is quite fun and perfect as we move into the spring and summer months!
Feist – SeaLion (Chromeo Remix)
The Next concert that I found out about is Radiohead. They are coming to Thunderbird Stadium towards the end of August. I think that this will be an amazing show that will loads of fun. I think that the last time I saw them was at the same venue and although its a fun place to see them, I wish that they played an arena or something smaller and more intimate. None the less, I will be looking forward to seeing them play and am glad that they are finally coming here again!
Also in case if you havent heard, they have created a remix site, where you can purchase portions of the track ‘Nude’ and remix it yourself. They have created a website where you can post it and see how it stacks up against the rest!
Here is the Radiohead track that I am into right now…and its live
Radiohead – Bangers N’ Mash (live)
Also I have just found this sweet video of them playing it live in a studio. I have seen Thom Yorke play guitar, piano and just plain ol’ wail but now he plays the drums and sings…I usually hate on singing drummers (ala Don Henley) but this is pretty sick! Click here.
Okay…fairly long for a quickie!
ps…i will try and do something with the website as well!
edit…you gotta check this out…who would of known that rock and hockey do mix?! click here
Last night I watched the Canucks game. It has been a long season and a very trying one as a Canuck fan. Expectations were high this year, especially coming off of division title and going two round into the playoffs last year.
I suppose there are many factors that lead the Canucks to be a bust this year. But the fact remains that they didnt qualify for the playoffs and that should be considered nothing more than a major disappointment.
Anyways back to the reason I watched the game. It seemed that for many in attendance and those watching the game on tv, it appeared that this may have been Trevor Linden’s final game as a Canuck and as a NHL player. He recieved a few standing o’s and at the end of the game
and in what was a very classy move by Jerome Iginla and The Flames, the entire team came over and shook Trev’s hand. Finally he was made the first star in a game in which his team lost 7-1. He took of lap around the rink and looked like he was savouring the moment.
My favorite Trevor Linden moment that I ever witnessed was being at Game 6 of the Calgary series in 1994. I was at the game with Rob and Lanny and we watched the game from about midway up the blues at the old Pacific Coliseum. It was overtime and Trevor scored to send the series to game 7. The place was crazy and it was definetly a game that I will never forget. I still even have my Trevor Linden for Rookie of the year in 1989!

The guy is a legend and has been one of my favorite players and shall always remain that way in my memory. I suppose that when he retires from playing, the Canucks would be stupid if they didnt offer him a job in management, ala Steve Yzerman (my other fav player) in Detroit. He seems destined to be in the game for years to come.

Good luck to Trevor Linden and thanks for the memories (if this is the end?!)
okay so the title may be a little incorrect but seeing that it has been almost a decade since i graduated high school…i thought that i would head down memory lane and see what i could come up with.
there are the obvious things like teams and trips and all of that but one of my fav memories had to of been the time we recorded as song to be put on our friends cd. it seemed like a great idea. but was it? listen to the song and let me know!
we recorded at Horton Home Studios. Wakefield and the Marshmellowmen consisted of Taco on vocals, Pablo and Jose on guitars and Burrito on drums. I believe that Pepe was there for moral support and was our sound engineer (pressing record on the ghetto blaster).
I think that we attempted and successfully recorded the song three times. This version we had to unplug Jose’s guitar so Taco could sing. What would happen is we would plug it back in after the singing was done but we forgot! Oh well.
The recording was so shitty that when our friends Search for Utopia went to put it on the cd, they had to slow it down. It resulted in a not so friendly sounding recording. Well through the magic of computers, I have managed to speed the recording back to its original speed and its original glory!
I hope that you enjoy!

Well, well, well, well, well…what do we have here?
its looks like i have finally made it back to london england. the last time i was here was for a brief visit while on a high school rugby tour. we were staying in bristol and bused into town. we stayed for an afternoon and when we had to leave, for those who remember, Jed G. was missing. ‘ jed is dead in london’. well didnt actually die, but it made for a fun song on the way home!
this time around hopefully none of that happens this time! we started out arriving at the airport with 2 huge school groups. one was a rugby team from cloverdale and another was a boys and girls soccer team from victoria. i figured that it was going to be a interesting flight. i have to say that the high schoolers where fairly well behaved. we even had 3 movies, ‘dan in real life’, ‘ the italian job’ and ‘juno’. i guess that they had to edit juno because the funniest lines where not in it. we left at 7pm and arrived at 4am vancouver time. it is currently 6pm london time, 11am vancouver time.
we are lucky enough to e able to stay with pete, who has a 2 bedroom flat in west london or chelsea. we took the tube to earls court and were basically a 5 minute walk to his place. it is in a really posh area and his flat is really posh.
today has consisted of taking off, flying, not sleeping, landing, tubing, walking, flating, showering, wondering, eating, grocery shopping and now blogging and soon lounging. I am knackered! but tomorrow has an ARSENAL game on tap. i wouldnt believe how excited i am for it…
pc…from LND
So what is going on? Lets re-cap what has been going on with my life…
the canucks are on a rollercoaster of a ride right now. the people downstairs must think that i am slightly crazy. pretty much you can tell how the game is going by my two phrases. ‘SHIT’ means we got scored on. ‘YEEEESSSS’ means that we just scored. But i do yell other things during the coarse of the game as well…its not my fault…call it hockey turrets. also get rick rypien out of the lineup. he does nothing of worthwhile. put trevor back in. at least he contributes.
I just got my hands on the new portishead album. now i have only listened to it once through but i have to say that it is seriously dark music. like really dark as in i hate everyone and everything. i will try to give it another listen and see if i can find more light in it! here is the new album cover and a song. give it a listen.

Portishead-Machine Gun
I also stumbled upon this. Its a live bootleg from my favorite guitar player of all time, Stevie Ray Vaughn. His playing so full of soul and passion. You can hear it ooze from him while he plays. The quality of this boot is very good, its actually from the soundboard. thats means excellent quality.
here is a link if it interest you
stevie ray vaughn – voodoo chile
finally, while i was checking on the hype machine, my favorite place to find music, i found this feist track featuring kanye west. nevermind…its was a bogus track…i was wondering why there wasnt more hype about that.
later
ps…quote of the day…”i need this like i need a growth on my ass”- some home flipper guy on tv
Last Night or the night before…i cant remember now…we watched ‘the king of kong: a fist full of quarters’ it has to be one of the best movies i have seen in a long time. it was interesting, engaging and full of twists and turns. its set modern day with a school teacher who is trying to become the highest scorer in king kong history. he is trying to defeat a douche bag named billy. can you tell how i feel about the characters? man, you should really go and rent this film. its a good one to watch. i dont know if i do a real good write up here but really…if i can bother to put it on the blog, then it must be worth it!
what else is going on?
my canucks are stumbling…c’mon, you’re killing me!
a great new song
rodrigo y gabriela – stairway to heaven
check it out. its great flamenco version of the song…lots of crazy guitar playing and passion…
okay…thats it for now…
